Anybody have any experience with posterior babies?

My babe is ROP to be exact and has been for weeks. I'm not anxious to turn as I read only 5% of posterior babies actually remain posterior during delivery.

3rd baby, overdue by a few days so far. Baby is posterior, not engaged (however is bobbing up and down on the rim, if you will) no dilation or effacement at all. Catherine Rose was born on 9/29 at 4:11pm. She was 6lbs4oz and 18.5" long.

At which point in my pregnancy should I start being concerned about a posterior baby and/or exploring turning techniques? My baby is head down, but it seems to be posterior. I will be 37 weeks tomorrow, and I know there should still be plenty of time for the baby to turn on his/her own, but how long should I wait?

I haven't posted much, but I thought I'd share my birth story!  Warning:  in the end, a lot of things happened that I swore up and down would not happen:  A c-section, early pitocin/epidural, formula, etc.  I have a healthy boy, however, and I've come to terms with everything.  I still consider my birth experience a positive one!

So it's 39 weeks and 4 days with my first and he hasn't dropped. My friend's baby never dropped so she ended up being induced then emergency c-sectioned which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid ( Read more... )

It occurred to me today that I never posted a birth story when my daughter was born. I was a member of this community throughout my first pregnancy and I am now back for my second pregnancy.
